First of all I have searched and can not find the answer to this question so please forgive me if it has already been asked....
I have a remote mount XTL5000 with a w7 control head. Can I remove the w7 head and plug in an o3 head and it work properly? Will the radio need to be re-programed and / or flashed for it to work correctly? Will I need any additional parts?
Thanks again everyone...

You will need a new TIB and flex, then change the control type in the CPS to O3/O5

What exactly is a TIB & Foil and why can't I use the one that I have? Do you have the part numbers for the one that I need? Thanks again for all of the help and information.

TIB is a transceiver interface board and you can't use the one you have because it's for a W series radio which uses a completely different connection (DB25) than the O series which uses a GCAI connector.
PM sent on the parts.

I can only assume you have the O3 HHCH in hand. If this is the case, then yes, the TIB face needs to be changed (abt $220 bucks new, but I see them on ebay now and then too).
The O5 remote TIB and O3 TIB are the same. I took an remote mount O5 radio and clicked on the HHCH for an O3 and it worked. However, the O5 programming in the radio itself was presented on to the O3 HHCH, which looked funny (five push option buttons on a HHCH with only three buttons). A re program with an O3 radio pattern corrected this.
If you have the parts on hand, then do a "Change control head type" to the O5/O3 control head (from the W7). If you have to get the TIB and HHCH to do this, Motorola makes a kit H1829A that has the TIB and HHCH , plus cables for less than you can get all the parts seperately from Big M. You have to get this kit via a Motorola salesman as its not available via regular parts (which makes no sense). The H1829A Kit is an W3 to O3 conversion kit. Don't sweat the W3 part - its really a W series to O3 kit, as you change the TIB and add the HHCH anyway.
