Hello, I am trying to see if anyone knows if the Astro 25 cps with an OEM Astro cabel will program a XTS 1500 and or the PR 1500 or do I need just Astro cps? I have attempted to read the radio with a serial cabel from kawa mall but it gives me an error code of 24.

Yes it will. Astro25 portable CPS will program the PR1500, MT1500, XTS1500, XTS2500, XTS4000, and XTS5000.

Astro portable CPS is for the Astro Saber & XTS3000.

Typical. You'll need an OEM Astro25 cable, serial ribless type is an RKN4106.They can be had for about 50 bucks on Ebay from a seller named rickthompson602t, his are NIB and are the real genuine Motorola item. Don't waste your time or risk your expensive radio with some POS. Not only are they flaky, but poorly assembled. Last thing you would want when writing to your Astro25 radio is one of those flimsy wires to break or contact each other and turn your radio into a paperweight. Icom, Kenwood and Vertex radios are more forgiving of bad programming cables. Motorola radios can be rendered totally comatose requiring trips to the factory depots. And repairs will often cost alot more than the price of an OEM cable.
