I have purchased upgrades for some Astro Spectra and XTL5000 mobile radios to enable MDC 1200 enhanced display. The problem comes that they will decode the normal PTT IDs but will not decode an emergency button. So far Motorola is telling me that is because they are not in digital or trunk mode. These are VHF analog. Has anyone else had this problem and what if any is the answer?

The answer is that very few of Motorola's subscribers can decode an MDC1200 emergency. Astro25 radios are not among those that can.
