Post by k5hdm »

Hi, Does the MT 2000 work with encryption? I noticed "Encryption Enable" or soemthing similar in the RSS.. do they make secure modules for these?

Thanks!

There are aftermarkets such as Transcrypt that make secure modules for the MT2000. What you're seeing in RSS is intended for the MTS2000 as they use the same software and these have the SecureNet socket on their controller board to accept a OEM encryption board.

Correct. MT2000's cannot do Motorola encryption (DES-XL, etc.).

Don't think it's of any signifance just a different model. Pretty much close cousins except the MTS will do secure, trunking (if so flashed) and capable of receiving flash upgrades. Also 255 ch. vs. 160 and there's even a MTS model 1 that will do 255 ch. then the MTS has a model 2 that's not available as MT.
