XTS2500i Rubber Seal seating

Hi Folks,

I seem to be having an issue with getting the actual radio back into the housing properly. When it 'clicks' back into place, I notice that I can see a pretty good amount of the rubber seal on either side of the radio. If I probe gently with a small screwdriver, there appears to be space between the seal and the plastic case. Obviously, it has not sealed properly. It also appears that the sides of the radio are bulged out as well. The rubber seal is not kinked or any other way messed up.

Is there a trick to getting the actual radio to seat properly in the case? Never had this problem before.

Thanks,

Tim

are you using the correct housing? if it is an AN housing the tabs won't line up and cause the exact problem. I just got an XTS2500i and it came with the wrong housing on it. The BN chassis have a metal tab on each side that is supposed to interlock with the plastic in such a way as to make the seal tight. I will try to post pictures later to show you what I mean.

Not sure... where would the numbers be for the housing?

The chassis model # is H67KDD9PW5AN

you have an AN radio, if it has a BN housing that is the problem. I am not sure of the p/n's but I will post pics of the inside of a BN XTS2500i and you will clearly see the differences in the housings. If you need an AN full keypad housing, I may have one soon. PM me.

here are a couple of pics of a BN XTS2500i, showing the chassis tabs that line up with slots in the correct front housing. The AN housing does NOT have these slots, and it causes those two metal chassis tabs to interfere with the correct sealing, and may also cause the lower side buttons to not work (as is the case with mine).
