Zhone issued a field advisory notice three years ago. I, of course, got it today. If it affects you, you know what you'll be doing this next week. (big grin)

Issue: The lithium battery on the IMACS / TENSR interface card has an estimated 7-10 year life span. There are no external indicators that show the lithium battery is failing or dead.

Impact - System Outage: Old IMACS units that lose power for any reason, for example a reboot, can lose the system configuration. This configuration is stored on the interface card. Rather than a seamless reboot, a technician will be forced to manually re-enter the configuration. This represents a significant system outage that will take time and effort to restore.
I looked at my spare cards and do not see a Li batt anywhere unless it is buried in either the Dallas device - a thick 24 pin dip chip - or another large box from a mfg I did not recognize with a non-standard dip configuration. I'll be backing up my channel banks and power cycling them to see if they fail as described. Good times!

Fellow TenSr / IMACS users.

My name is Jason Gass and I facilitate the ICBRO program for PSI. You can contact me at 201-488-6000 or [email protected]
The ICBRO program is still active. The battery is the Dallas Timekeeper and is soldered to the unit.
I can provide current copies of the FAB upon request.
