Open Radio Failed - XTS2500 With Serial Port

Hi Folks,

Just hooked up the 2500 to the RIB & tried to read the radio. Using XP SP3, Serial Cable, RIB, etc. Got the message "Open Radio Failed Error Context: 24, Status: c0000039e.

I just programmed the radio a week or so ago. Good battery in the RIB. Also had same problem in programming a 2500i. Did hook up an HT750 to the rib & all worked OK with that software/cable combo.

Only change to the XP system is that I installed the RSS for a Quantar (not running) a couple of days ago.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

Astro25 portables (XTS1500/2500/5000) use their own RIBless cable. Part number for the serial cable is RKN4106A.

crow --> open mouth... or is it foot --> mouth?!

I knew that.

Thanks for waking me up. Amazing how using the right cable makes things work in the... <correct> way!

Similar errors may be caused by poor programming setup - hardware & software. Discard RIB! Afterthat try OEM cable (they are on eBay just for $50). And drop a few lines after.

Oh don't feel bad...last week I was attempting to reprogram some trunking information in my work V/7/8 APX and for about 1/2 hour couldn't figure out why nothing worked...then is dawned on me that I forgot to plug in the ASK. All I can say to that one was DUH!

Happens to everyone... I was going nuts once trying to figure out why I got no communication on a 3K. I had taken the battery out of the RIB and forgot to replace it the last time I used it.

I can top all of that.

Model 2 MCS2000. Commercial Series programming adapter.. y'know, the one with pins shorted on the RJ45. Magic smoke was let out.
