MSF5000 AllStarLink Setup Help Requested

I am setting up a MSF5000 repeater with AllStar. I am using DMK Universal Radio Interface (URI). I am pulling the signals off the MRTI and also the TTRC via J2900 and J2901.

My cable schematic looks like this:

MRTI Pin URI (DB25) pin
1--------------------20
5--------------------1
8--------------------22
10------------------21

TTRC J2900 URI (DB25) pin
8--------------------7

TTRC J2901 URI (DB25) pin
11------------------8


Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the correct cable schematic?

Hi does anyone out there have experience configuring an allstar node using a DMK Engineering URI? I have
been trying for months to configure my node with a Motorola MSF5000 repeater. I
am at my wits end having spent countless hours. I can send my node configuration
settings, cable schematic, and codeplug to anyone who might be able to help.

The problem that I am having is:
The repeater "repeats" audio received from the internet (from another node)
The repeater does not repeat audio, or send audio out to the internet, that it receives via RF (locally), it does key up and send a carrier (but no audio)

I ran another test this morning. This is what I did and this is the result that I had.

I used a set of computer headphones with a alligator clamp on one lead and a test probe on the other lead. I connected the alligator clamp to the chassis of the repeater. I then touched the probe to pin 10 of the MRTI (audio out from station). When I touch the test probe to pin 10 I get a small pop in the headphone. Then, while still touching the probe to pin 10 of the MRTI, I transmit on an HT on the input frequency of the repeater and I hear VERY low level, unintelligible, scratchy audio (I can barely tell it is my voice).

I am wondering if this is what I should be hearing on pin 10 of the MRTI or if this could be the problem (i.e. bad audio on pin 10 of the MRTI). Should I be hearing clear audio?

I am pretty sure pin 10 is AC coupled so I am really not sure if the above is a valid test to see if I am getting audio out on pin 10.

When I run a similar test on Pin 8 of the MRTI (audio in to the station), I get clear audio. (Using audio from the internet, through the URI).

MRTI Pin 10 is NOT AC-coupled. It should be sitting at around 4.8VDC with audio running on it, probably several hundred millivolts with a 5 kHz deviated input signal to the receiver.

Unless U814 died "When I touch the test probe to pin 10 I get a small pop in the headphone."

I just did one of these last night. I can confirm that this works:

MSF SSCB---------URI
TP9 (Mic PTT)------1
TP8 (Mic Audio)---22
TP3 (Disc Audio)--21
TP7 (Ground)------13
Passes audio and CTCSS just fine. This was for a setup where the URI was handling CTCSS encode/decode and TX qualification so no COR signal was necessary. I set the receiver qualification to "ON" in the MSF Channel programming and set my PTT priority to "L".

I was glad to find you had worked out the interconnect for the DMK Engineering URI to the MSF5000. I noticed as I read the DMK URI doc, it indicated a pull-up resistor is required on the PTT. I suppose this is necessary with some radios, but it looks like your test confirms the pull-up resistor is not necessary with the MSF5000.

I have the server configured and will use your interconnect recommendation to tie my DMK URI to a C65GFB MSF5000 next week. This is so far the only place I have found where someone has confirmed an interconnection for the DMK URI to the MSF5000. Thanks for posting it.
