Has anyone heard (rumors, or otherwise) if anything is on the near term horizon for a replacement of the MTR-3000? I realize that Motorola recently upgraded the 2000 to equip it with MOTOBRO, but the underlying MTR-2000 is now awfully long in the tooth in its product lifecycle. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a new MTR, and don't want to find out 3 to 6 months afterwards that something of the ilk of an MTR-4000 is announced!

The MTR 3000 supports all of the features of the MTR 2000, plus the added benefit of MotoTRBO with further enhancements such as dynamic mixed mode, etc.

I don't see anything in the foreseeable future coming in terms of an MTR 4000. The MTR 3000 is the recommended replacement for MTR 2000 and earlier radios. It still supports full 4W TRC / E&M in analog mode, so there is no loss of features with regards to analog operations.

In-Cabinet Repeat
Selectable Power Output (Battery Operation)
Phone patch timeout timer
Binary Remote Control
Wildcard (basic & enhanced)
RX Inhibit
Hardware metering via CPS/RSS
Cross banding
Alarm tones
Voting


Not to mention the myriad options listed as "future release"

The final release spec sheet begs to differ on voting. I think the thing inherently supports in-cabinet repeat, otherwise it wouldn't be a repeater. RDAC software handles the diagnostics & control...

The book says remote control is an option and is 4 wire. Can it be used with a 2 wire console?

Take it up with Motorola, the information is straight from their MTR2000 vs MTR3000 comparison documentation.

We've got an agency that purchased two of them, I'll have them in front of me soon enough and I'll let everyone know what the story is.

For Arlojanis, I wanted an MTR3000 for use on a 2 wire wireline too, so I asked: you have to order option X216 to get the 2W wireline card.
