Had a friend bring me a Ht1250 He said he was playing around with Programming software and "screwed" something up

when you power it on no beeps no display just the top led and the screen back light flash

and keep flashing after the switch is cut off

Only way to stop it is remove battery

CPS wont read it

IS it Recoverable at all ? Ideas ?

Try reading with latest version of software it will sometimes recover it to a default codeplug. also may try programming it with a saved codeplug or a default one that matches the model number.IF all else fails take it to your local Motorola Shop, if they can't recover for you they can send it to the factory for repair. That opton is not cheap but does not cost as much as a replcement of that radio. It will be practically new when you get it back.

Try to programm the radio again, with a good codeplug.
If you still have problems, get the US Lab Flashtool and flash it with new firmware first, before you use the codeplugtool,to program a new default codeplug.

This sounds familiar...

I knew a man who used lab tool to *try* and make his HT1250 into an HT1550, but because the EPROM sizes are different, he bricked his radio instead, same symptoms you describe.

Better ask what CPS he was using, and whether or not it was 'official'.

Without being able to remove the flash EPROM and clone it off of another radio or something similar, I'd say it's junk.

I could not recover my friend's radio... I don't know, but would think that maybe the depot could fix it.

You can recover it.You have to program a proper HT1250 codeplug with the codeplugtool.
After this is done, flash the firmware (the right firmware for your FLASHROM size).
The EEPROM size is on all radios, the same!

Yes,you shoud try,to program the codeplug with the codeplugtool.Try it again and again, when it not start on the first time.
When it starts and you still have problems, program the hardware codeplug only!
