Hi all
I have a gp300 that does not work properly. when i turn it on an orange led comes on on top of handset and stays on for a bit and then continuously flashes (quite slowly). the unit make no sound.
Can anyone tell me what this means and is it something that is possible to fix?
I have been searching for days trying to figure this one out. If I have missed it somewhere I am sorry
Many many thanks Simon

Orange generally indicates the radio is in monitor mode.

Hello:
If the GP300 radio still transmits and recieves normaly then the orange led is more than likely the radio is in scan mode .
In scan mode the GP300 will flash on off slowly fast or rapidly depending on the scan settings set in programming.
If it is a scan mode then usualy when the radio is first turned on the led does not flash for aprox 30 to 60 seconds then radio will go into scanning mode with flashing led if i recall corectly.
Scan was set to a channel so channel two or other would not be a scan .
So if more than three channels were programmed you could try other channels and see if the led stops flashing which would lead me to believe it was a scan programmed channel issue.
Only factory 8 or 16 ch GP300s did scan but if the radio was TKd then a 2ch could have scan added ect so no real rules can be trusted per se.
If scan you can also when the led is flashing press and hold the monitor button until sqeulch opens and if actualy scanning GP300 will emmit a rapid dit dit dit sound .
To go back to normal sqeulch operation simply press monitor button again or turn off and turn back on the GP300 and it should go back to default settings programmed per the radio.
If the above does not apply to your GP300 then id check programming of monitor mode then consider dumping in a known good code plug of the same model number before looking into components to make sure its not a software issue.
Good luck.

The only condition that the radio should show a flashing yellow is after a selective call or call alert. Radio kinda sounds hosed but the upside is they're going very inexpensively on the Bay.
