05 Control Head Bad Display... Any Remedy?

I've now had a couple of XTL5K 05 Control Heads that appear to work great, then all of a sudden, develop weird lines in the display. One has horizontal lines, the other has a strange group of vertical lines (picture a bar code in the center of the display, and that's what it looks like).
What makes the problem particularly weird is that these lines come and go: They control head works fine one night. Sits in the house overnight. Next morning, lines. Power off, power on, I get the lines. I let it sit, I power it on, I get lines. Try it a few days later... it works fine again.
Anybody heard of this before? Anything I might do to fix it, or is it simply time to find a new 05 control head??
I've tried re-seating the flexes (between head and CHIB and between whatever the two boards in the head itself are). It IS the control head, because I see the same behavior regardless of the drawer with which I use the head.
Thanks,
Peter
