So I'm currently sitting next to my IMPRES charger while it's reconditioning a Lithium battery for my XTS 2500. A couple minutes ago I heard a single, somewhat loud snap / pop noise that I think came from the unit. No obvious odors, smoke, or visual indicators of any problems.
This was near the end of the recondition cycle, as the battery just began recharging about 30 seconds ago. Is this normal? Has anyone else seen / heard this happen before?

Noise is NOT normal. You need to determine if it is the charger or the radio battery.
Re: Popping / snapping noise when reconditioning IMPRES Li-I
Lithium Ion battery, eh? Keep a real close eye on it, if it makes it to thermal runaway then you'll have a problem on your hands.

Grenades are NOT the normal operating mode....

Re: Popping / snapping noise when reconditioning IMPRES Li-I
Is it a Motorola brand battery bought from an authorized Motorola dealer?
I have seen aftermarket Lithium Ion batteries smoke.

Re: Popping / snapping noise when reconditioning IMPRES Li-I
Thanks for the replies, everyone. I only heard the noise once and that was it. There's no obvious pressure / thermal damage on the battery, and it didn't feel any warmer than normal. Battery is Motorola OEM, not aftermarket.
At any rate, I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on it the next time it ends up in the charger. I'm hoping it was just some coincidental noise from the same location in the room...
