Ok found out how to do it. Pry off front cover and top and bottom. remove connector cable in front goint to front head. Pry up on board all the way around and it does pop out.
Bad news if it is the ic final, you need a hot air soldering station to remove.

Looks like back to motorola. If you see two mounting screws on board, then it is the mrf type and your in luck.

Thanks to Rich KJ6RA for the help.

Do you mean the LDMOS transistors where there are two of them with 6 contacts each?

I've replaced those, used a pair of sharp nosed cutters to cut the contacts right at the body of the transistor, unsoldered the pieces of contact left on the board, and soldered the new transistors in. Using some small bolts/washers/nuts to secure the new ones to the board while you solder them will help keep them aligned properly.

It's a bit tricky but it is possible.

The biggest problem I have with the CDMs is getting the board out without tearing the thin heat transfer pads under the transistors and audio PA, I believe someone suggested warming it up with a heat gun in a past forum thread.

Also there are some thick film resistors in the PA circuit that sometimes burn up so you have to look at those as well.

Should also point out you need to set the bias and power afterwards, and be careful which way around the transistors go in.
