Does anyone know if the 7 pair cable connectors from Amp are available anywhere or know what type of punch tool is required to assemble them? It looks like a 110 tool almost but knowing Mother it's probably some crazy ridiculous expensive tool. Any info will be appreciated.

Did you try calling AMP? I know they were available as I have a styrofoam carrier full of them, but as for how they are assembled, you've got me.
You might try calling Motorola SSC and asking the console guys...

The part numbers below are AMP part numbers. Motorola typically gets theirs from Newark catalog but it looks like digi-key carries these parts to.
552282-1 is the male connector
552312-1 is the female connector
229384-1 is the t handle insertion tool

Let us know how well the hand insertion tool works. When I have to make the fully populated 25pr telco type, I have a real AMP jig for combing out the colors, crimping the wires, and trimming the ends. When I have to do it by hand, I use a really dull Xacto blade. Gits er dun, but takes a while.

I can't count how many times I've stabbed myself with that hand tool. No one else I know has one, so YMMV.
