I have an Astro XTS3000 model 2, VHF using in analog only mode. I have it programmed identical to a model 1 that I have and sitting side by side they dont transmit the same. The model 2 will not transmitt or recieve as well as the 1. It WILL pick up the same traffic but its very weak. It will also transmit fine locally on simplex but all of the same repeated channels it has trouble opening the repeater if at all. Im not sure if it's a programming issue that Im missing or if its a transmit problem.
If someone wouldnt mind taking a look, I could send a codeplug from each to make certain that Im not missing something.
If anyone knows of any other known model 2 issues please let me k now.
Thanks
Craig

Sounds like it may be an allignment issue. How long have you had the radio that has the problem and is this a recent development or has it always had the issues?

It could be a hardware problem, or alignment problem. As far as hardware with poor TX/RX you need to look at the antenna circuit. From the top down are you using an RF adapter or antenna? If so is adapter the correct style for your radio (it's not an true SMA on Moto units), try swapping it with the one from the good radio. Is the center pin damaged? The next place to check is the coax that goes from the chassis to the RF PCB, then the RF connector on the board. after that it would be electronic down to the t/r switch.
Now for an alignment issue it could also be that, as the front end is aligned via soft pots.

It has a regular motorola OEM antenna. I've changed 2-3 antennas and it doesnt make a difference. It had been working fine up until 2-3 of months ago. I had been using the model 1 for a while, but carried the model 2 last week and found its not working like I remember. I KNOW it was working back then. How would I get the radio tuned and aligned? I think I remember reading MOT doesnt service the 3k now.
Thanks

Your local MSS should be able to do the tuning and alligning for you for a fee.
