Here is a VHF Quantar set in mixed mode that works fine in analog all day long. But when we transmit in digital it starts to cycle as show until eventually it system reset. Looking for some ideas to why this might be happening.

When this happens the related Service Status Reports are:
SC CONTROL_CASTRO_TRANS 462 SWARE D
SC ROOT 496 SYS_RESET 4
SC SYSTEM_STATUS 943 MODEM WL_DIAG_CO
SC SYSTEM_STATUS 1033 MODEM LINK_INI
SC ROOT 496 SYS_RESET 5
SC ROOT 496 SYS_RESET 6

On:
STN CONTROL FW: B013.04.007
STN WIRELINE: B013.05.004
STN EXCITER: B016.07.001
CODEPLUG VER: W.24

Your SCM F/W does not support CAI digital. You need at least 16.09.xx IIRC.

If you look in the Quantar RSS help files, or in Tab 8 of the User's Guide [6881085E35] you will find a version table. It appears that you have a really old station with the TRN7475 Station Control Board.

I don't believe you will be able to use that station control board to do digital.

You will need to replace that with an Epic control card with a firmware release beginning with 020 [e.g. SC_020_09_017].

Obviously, newer releases are preferable but release nine or newer will do P25. Bro-comm has a couple listed at $99 that have release 10 firmware.

You will also need to upgrade the station's exciter and wireline firmware to versions that align with the new station control.

Well that explains it.

Thanks for the help.
