Dumb question - XTL2500 vs 5000?

Hi, I know this question is pretty dumb, and I have tried googling but am now too tired to further pursue the investigation.

In a nutshell, what the hell is the difference between a O5 XTL5000 & a O5/M5/whatever XTL2500? I'm looking for a good ol' VHF mobile with good audio & lots of channels (and P25 of course).

Other than the multiple encryption algorithms and the added scan list & call list capacity, why do I fail to see an advantage? Can the 2500 do dual control heads & such features?

The XTL-5000 can do up to 4 control heads, were the XTL-2500 can only do 2.

The XTL-5000 has more options in regard to multiple control heads, such as TX audio routing.

And my biggest gripe is no VRS-EP, 750, or DVRS with the 2500's, which is why I use a XTL-5000 in my truck.

The Futurecom DVRS works with the XTL2500, we just installed 8 of them for a customer.

Oh crap I didn't mean to type in DVRS. As I have never seen one. I'll probably never see one in this part of the world.

The only reason we ever purchased 5000s over the 2500s was encryption, and the 03 HHCH. Otherwise, for most people, the 2500 will work just fine.
