CAN A MSF500 ANALOG BE CHANGED TO DIGITAL?

Fellow Forum Members,
I have a MSF5000 UHF station (CLB Analog) that I'd convert to digitial (CXB) if is easy enough. I'm thinking that all I need to do is exchange out the top control board(s), tray and that should work. Is it really that simple?
Thanks,
Larry

Larry,
You need to change out the top control board from a CLB SCB to a CXB SSCB, as well as the interconnect board located on the RF tray. Both of these are required in order to properly convert the station. A CXB board will not operate with a CLB interconnect board, and vice versa.
Mods: Please move this thread to System Infrastructure? Thanks!

Thanks,
I was pretty sure all I needed to do was change out the plastic tray(& boards), plug in the connectors, and reprogram.
It sounds like this confirms that.

Well again, under the RF deck is the interconnect board, you need to change that as well.

The CXB interconnect isn't an absolute requirement but it does simplify things.
CXB station interconnect boards contain an on-board +5V regulator which juices the VCOs. CLB stations provide +5V via the controller board. Do a search in this sub-forum and you'll find the mod instructions to use a CXB SSCB/TTRC deck with the CLB interconnect. I've done it and can personally verify that it works but I don't recall which pin on the SSCB ribbon cable needs +5V supplied to it.
