mtx9250 programming with FAIL 00/82

Hi everyone - I'm having a problem programming my mtx9250 for the 900MHz ham bands. I've hexedited the cps, and can enter frequencies fine. I can read the radio fine, but haven't been able to write the radio - it fails partway through, with "FAIL 00/82" on the screen. Trying to read the radio after that, I get one of the following error messages (randomly, as far as I can tell):

"Unexpected block type found"
"Bad checksum in received message."
"Unexpected response"
"Incomplete response from radio"

Sometimes the CPS crashes with a runtime error as well.

I've been able to recover back to the original codeplug by some combination of reading/writing the original saved codeplug, but haven't quite figured out what's different when it succeeds.

The exact same cable and computer is able to read/write my HT1250 just fine with the appropriate CPS, so it seems unlikely it's that.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you sure you're not getting the same errors when using unmodified CPS? The reason I ask is we've found the exact same problems as you when programming MTX850 & MTX4550 radios with standard CPS (we don't deal with MTX9250 at all)...it seems to be doing this ever since they made the MTX4550 part of the portfolio & updated the CPS to version 2.01.03 & beyond to accommodate it. We certainly didn't see the issue before that, at least. Just keep writing the codeplug to the radio...it eventually reaches 100% on the progress bar & programs successfully...sometimes it takes 5 or 6 tries. I haven't asked Motorola about the issue yet, but plan to. It happens on multiple different computers, with both the standard RIB & cable, and OEM ribless cable. No issues with the global tuner or firmware update software though (that I've seen, at least).

Thanks - I was having errors with the unmodified CPS as well. I followed your suggestion and kept hitting the "write radio" button. Eventually it worked.
