Crimp tool for Radius/Maxtrac acc plug

Post by sailor »

Howdy,

Just wondering what the proper tool is to crimp these pins. I tried a couple things and made a mess of it each time. Is this one of those $500 tools? Please tell me no:-) In addition, can a guy find replacement pins alone, without buying the entire connector? To fix my earlier mistakes :x

Thanks!

Save yourself a lot of headaches and buy one of these kits from this ebay seller. He has a variety of very well made cables. This auction includes premade leads with the pins already perfectly attached. A lot easier to solder the wires together than to attach those tiny pins !! 8)

I have bought from that seller. I can recommend him. He is a retired Police Sgt. and Ham who does excellent work on all his cables. I believe he is a member here too.

A GM weatherpack connector crimp tool works fine, it just needs to have a small enough size. We have a few that have blue handles and about six or so different size's.

I use this one: http://connect.in.com/cable-crimping-to ... 5b5da.html
Got it ,I think, about $15; does a pretty good job.

I'd like to add another glowing recommendation for mre1032. Very helpful.

mre1032 is just the best. His shipping policy is great. He charges $4 no matter how many or few items you order at one time. Order two or three different items (or more) and it's still just $4.

I have ordered from him several times. Once I learned how many different items and variations he offers of pins, wires, and the 16 and 20 pin accessory connectors, I figured there was no reason for me to buy a crimping tool and try to find a source of the pins.
