Another XTL2500 Programing Question

Hello Everyone. I am still working on fine tuning the programing on a VHF XTL2500. Now the Boss is telling me that with the mic off the hook, we are receiving other FD's, normally not received due to different PL's. Apparently this is not happening when the mic is on the hook. I have the Unmute/Mute Type set to standard. I only want to receive our PL, no other and no carrier squelch. What can I do? Thank you. Henry

I believe that is in the conventional configuration settings and it is called HUB Defeats PL.

If you are sharing a freq and each dept has its on PL I HIGHLY recommend leaving this as is. If you don't then you will have people talking over the top of each other on the same freq at the same time and end up with garbage for transmissions. People will get upset.

Now if these are other channels you are receiving while scanning off hook then unchecking should be fine.

Is it not a legal requirement in the US to monitor a frequency before transmitting? This is IIRC why this feature exists.

Not if it's an exclusive use frequency.

And really, who monitors before transmitting anymore?

Also make sure the mike clip is grounded

OP stated the condition doesn't exist when the mic is hung up which would leave me to believe the mic clip is grounded or he is using a mic with a ground switch when hung up.
