Hello:
I have a 25 watt VHF 146 to 174 mhz maxtrac that the transmit is perfect but absolutely no recieve at all (DEAD)
I have eliminated the logic bd and narrowed it down to the rf bd by swapping out bds and realigning ect.
So i did replace U-101 chip on the RF bd per the info i found and still no recieve audio or blinking rx led on signal input from the service monitor.
My qestion is = Is it possible the Y52 - 44.645 mhz crystal could be bad ?
I was under the impression that if that crystal y52 went bad both tx and rx would be dead.
In my case i have perfect tx with no rx and yes before somebody asks the audio jumper is installed on the logic bd.
Anything else i should be looking at if its not Y52 crystal.
Thank you.

Re: Maxtrac Recieve Dead ?
Do you get the un squelch noise by pressing and holding the MON button until you get a beep?
You can use your scanner to listen for the second oscillator, 44.645 mhz crystal.
Correct the Receiver second oscillator does not affect the transmitter.

Hello Will:
Thank you for the reply.
It did in fact turn out to be the Y52 oscilator crystal 44.645 mhz.
Got it changed out and checked out against the service monitor and with a few tuning adjustments back to specs.
Dont know why i let that one beat me up but i have my days too.
Thank You

I would bet the crystal is not actually bad and if you had took it out and resoldered it would have worked. Been there many times.
