XTS/MTS voting between PS RSM and antenna?

Hi all,

If you have an XTS or MTS with the Public Safety RSM, is the radio going to vote between the antenna attached to the radio and the RSM antenna for receive audio? Or will it always use only the RSM antenna?

Thanks!

The radio antenna is totally disabled when you attach a properly functioning PSM. On the Jedi series, the PSM connector depresses a spring-loaded plunger into the side of the radio which switches the RF to the PSM antenna. On the XTS, a similar function occurs- but this time it requires an RF adapter screwed onto the antenna connector- this adapter also has a spring-loaded switch internally. The XTS adapter comes with a metal cap for the radio antenna hole, and the Jedi PSM comes with a rubber plug.

I know the XTS2500 PSM has the adaptor as I have those in service but I thought the XTS 5000 PSM connected directly to the radio without a RF adaptor. Don't/won't have one just curious at this point...

No, the 5000 also requires that Klugey PSM adapter with the pin pusher arrangement. The XTS antenna switch is in the adapter whereas the MTS switch is permanently in the radio, so there are two different types of PSMs involved.

The XTS1500/2500 series uses an adapter that requires you to completely remove the 1/2 wave antenna from the radio.
