hello, while browsing this site i stumbled across akardam cps out of band modification and i thought it would be perfect to try on my low-split xts5000 so i can monitor frequencies in the 470+ range. i downloaded xvi32 hex editor and then opened the setup.exe (cps exe) for astro 25. i followed the directions as best i could but came across a problem when i tried searching for the upper 470000000 (80 A1 03 1C) string which i wanted to replace with 490000000 (80 CE 34 1D) string. i could not find the 470 string when using the find feature. it kept saying "string not found". can anyone clarify this further? i am stumped here!

I am not familiar with the mods you are doing, but I would first make sure you can find the lower limit first 403mhz? If you can't find that then it might be possible they inverted the data, as is the case with Astro software.

There is a chance that the upper limit may be slightly above 470000000. Open up your codeplug in the unmodded CPS and enter a frequency that you know is far above the upper edge and see what freq the CPS defaults it down to. Make a note of the freq and then try searching for that in PatPort.exe rather than 470000000 and see if that works.

Which CPS version are you trying to use? I was able to find 470000000 on R9.00.00.

After thinking this through, along with some clarifying with a few helpful board members, I managed to figure this out. At first, I tried mod'ing the Codeplug. Then when that didn't work, I tried mod'ing the installer EXE (Setup.exe) I didn't know that "PasPort.exe" is the actual file that you click on to load the software. DUR! Thanks for the help guys! It took about a minute total to mod the software. Great site!

I'm using R06.12.02 version software, and I couldn't find the exactly value in xvi32 also ("string not found") ,e.g. 450000000.... I want to make my Motorola GP328 frequency from 450000000 to 440000000, I'm from Asia region, the frequency range is between 450Mhz-520Mhz... Is it possible?
Thanks in advance.

Does this work with R17.01? I've been trying and get the string not found when I search for the string.
Thanks

If you're trying to locate 470000000 in Portable CPS R17.01.00 they're at offsets:
0x011A7F50
0x011A7F70
0x011A7FA0
0x011A7FC0

Thanks for your reply. I'm still missing something. I open the exe file in a text editor. I search for these offsets and still get not found. I was trying to follow these instructions...

To confirm, you are looking at the "PatPort.exe" file in "..Program Files\Motorola\ASTRO 25 Products\ASTRO 25 Portable" folder aren't you?
Just to double-check, if you Explore your way to that Windows folder and hover over the file icon it should say:
"Description: ASTRO 25 Portable CPS
Company: Motorola Solutions, Inc.
File Version: 17.1.0.0"
When you say
I open the exe file in a text editor.
is that a typo? You need to use a
hex editor?

It was a typo, I did use Hex editor. It looks like I figured it out. I was opening the patport.exe.config instead of the patport.exe.
I appreciate your assistance..
