Motorla M1225 Question

Post by yardbirdjr »

Hello All!

I recently bought a M1225 mobile and I am trying to get it programmed.

I attached my programming cable and keep getting an error code of radio not intialized. It also says please check radio, rib box or make sure radio is on. Well I have done all this and it still will not program.

My question is is there a programming mode that must be entererd and if so how do I accomplish this.

I have not programmed much of the radius line I mainly program the branded Motorola stuff.

Also I noticed that when I attach the programming cable the thing goes into transmit mode. Is this common?

I also noticed the thing get very hot to is this common?

Please let me know

Thanks

It's not normal for an M1225 to be in transmit while programming. It's probably getting hot because the transmitter PA transistor is dissipating heat resulting from a long period of high current draw. You didn't state what you're using for programming equipment, but I'd guess that if you're using an untested programming cable between your RIB and the M1225 it's not wired correctly.
There is no programming mode to enter, just connect your [correctly wired] program cable, fire up the software, and go to it.

Either your cable is wired wrong, or there's something wrong with the mic jack on the radio. Have you inspected the pins for damage?

Does the radio immediately transmit when you plug in a mic?

The programming cable is the same I use for programming Maxtracs and GM-300'

When I plug up a mike in the mike jack it works great. When I connect the programming cable it goes to transmit.

I am using a standard programming cable with a Polaris RIB box.

Like I said before this it the first time I have had to program a M-1225.

Use a Motorola RIB, or SmartRib in program mode.
