MCS CPS problem

I tried to install a MCS2000depot RSS into a laptop with win98 and a XP computer. The software was corrupt.
Since trying to install it,my CPS I use for my MCS2000 will not work correctly now. When I try to read a MCS with CPS the radio goes into "programming " mode, then dies and restarts with an error pop up "communications with radio failed"
The CPS starts to read the radio, after 10 seconds the radio dies, restarts and I have to click on the pop up "communication with radio failed".
I have uninstalled the both the depot file and uninstalled CPS and reinstalled it and still have the same problem, with both computers.
I used CCleaner after un installing the CPS before reinstalling it,done everything I can think of with no luck.
After a fresh install of the CPS,I keep having the same problem.
The laptop will work with other RSS programs with no problem, just not MCS CPS.
Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem ?

Not saying this is the problem, but the MCS radio is very sensitive to voltage levels of the programming cable. Normally the radios will not work with off brand rib boxes. Matter of fact I have even had problems with one of my official Motorola RIB boxes at times. Use the RIB only with a wall wart and not the internal battery if you can.

I am using s OEM Motorola Rib Box.
I have a new battery and a wall wart.
Everything worked before i attempted to install MCS2000 Depot.

Ok,now i feel silly. After spending 2 day's and many "words" it was simlpy a wire came off the cable from the rib to the computer.I never checked it before because the rib still worked for other RSS,guess that green wire is needed for MCS.
