So I have read several posts here and I still cannot get this to work.

I have a factory built RIB, RLN4008B, and a factory programming cable (RKN4083). It works fine for programming. I built an adapter to plug in to the 25 pin male connector, and added a switch that connects pin 16 (gnd) and 25(boot ctrl). I follow the the instructions explicitly (except when it says to flip the switch to position "B", I close my switch connecting pin 16 and 25). The radio beeps and enters programming mode. I am asked to hit the power button twice, at more than 1 sec interval, which I do. When I click continue, I get a message that the flash failed.

Any ideas? Thought that my switch setup may not be working, so instead I went straight to the accessory connector and jumpered those two pins. Same thing. Oh, and when it tells me to press the radio button twice, the first time it turns off, and the second time it does not power up (which I think is normal according to some of the other posts).

Unfortunatley this is occuring a week before we have a major radio programming project that has a Aug 7th deadline.

Ok start here, what's the firmware that's in the radio right now? The old v1 and v2 sometimes have issues updating. You might want to update it to like v3 or v4 first then update to newest. And yes, when you cycle the power button the radio should not come back on and show anything on the display. You probablly shouldn't jump any pins directly. But as far as the directions for that upgrade, those are very simple and straight forward, just start the upgrade tool and follow the directions on the screen.

I found that if I tried over and over, following the instructions, it would eventually work between tries 3 and 10. Does that make me feel comfortable with the process? No. But it works so far after a few radios. I think that tells me its a computer/software issue, and not something with my cableing.

The other thing that will cause an issue, is , if the radio is following ignition sense. You *have* to turn this off (reprogam the radio with it turned off) in the radio before you try and flash the firmware. Reason? The radio ignores the On/off push button if Ign sense is turned on.
So for that step where you are suppose to push the on/off button twice, with a second between pushes, the radio never sees a push of the button! And then it errors out on you!
