Batboard

We were given an /\/\ XTL5000 remote head mobile 450 uhf for our PD's supervisor car. Problem is the receive audio is horrible. The tech that sold the radio to the County came out and said there was a bad board in it. Came back from the depot sounding no different. I spoke with my FD radio tech who said the issue was with the audio settings in the cps. He was unavailable to provide me with the correct settings, but said this issue was common. The audio sounds like a metallic distorted digital voice and is very low. The tech mentioned something about de-emphasis settings? I am going to tool around the software tomorrow, does anyone know the settings and where are they hidden in the cps? We are wideband analog conventional at this time. The radio has mostly conventional programming other than the County's OEM channels which are digital trunked. Any help would be much appreaciated, as the other radios the County is programming are having the same audio issues. I did speak to M tech and he stated there was a Astro/NonAstro setting in the transmit/recieve settings which seems to be set correctly. And no the channel is not narrow banded checked that too.

So I worked my way around the CPS and after talking to /\/\ for another 40 minutes, finally changed receive audio to mixed from non-astro and unchecked hear clear. Works great...no more angry cops.

The hearclear setting is just for 900 MHZ. I don't know why the box is visible for other bands. GARY N4KVE
