Is there any mod to bring a MTR2000VHF via software into Ham Band? Or, if anyone is up for an even swap for a high power amp TTD197 100watt VHF 150-174 PA for TTD1972 135-154 100 PA, please let me know?
Regards

I modded my vhf high power, high split pa, tricking the station into thinking it is a vhf 40 watt pa. Worked like a charm.

Change R4560 from 1.5 K to 4.7 K
Change R4564 from 1.5 K to 4.7 K
Its right out of the manual. But you better be good with SMD, or let someone who is do it for you.

You still have full control over power output? No spurious emissions? Cool if it works like the OEM PA....

Thats what I'd like to know. This would be just the thing to do when it comes time to replace the MSF 5000. If that time ever comes.

No Spurious on the spectrum. I have an application where I only require 5 to 10 watts out, I tested for spurious down to 5, but am currently sitting at 10. The high power option would only let me down to 20 or 25 watts, I believe. My only concern is longevity of the pa, these things are too expensive to mess about with. You would think that running at minimun power would increase the life of the pa, but perhaps is hard on it in other ways. I dont know. In any case, I'll likley be picking up a couple of high power 3 db attenuators at Dayton next year.

What I think we want to know is that by tricking the station into thinking it has a 40W PA, are you still able to make 100W with it? Does everything tune up properly?

I gave you the details of what I did. But, specifically, no, I cannot, and do not want, to run 100 watts. I am limited to 40. If you need 100 watts in the Ham band, you will obviously need to trick the pa into thinking it a high power low split. But you will lose the wide band capability.
