What do you mean mute the external speaker? As in, FM Raido Mute? Yes, that option is in there. Also, the Handset mic, there's a setting in the same tab as where you configure the accessory pins that lets you select "Handset Audio" or something very similar.

What i was trying to ask, when using a dual head MCS2000 set up with a Hand Set HMN1086B,when you hold it up to your ear and press the PTT to talk ,all works fine, when Rx ( listening ) i can hear the audio through the hand set earpiece as well as the external speaker,so i was looking around in the CPS to see if theres a setting that will mute the external speaker while using the hand set so i only hear audio throught it and not both the speaker and hand set.
Hope this makes sense.

That's what the "handset audio" option is for. When enabled, when you take the handset "off hook", the radio mutes the external speaker. This is assuming you are using the proper handset with the magnetic reed inside (and a hang-up hook with a magnet). If this box is not checked, you'll still get handset audio, however it won't mute the external speaker. Some handsets have a switch that lets you select if the external speaker is on or not. IIRC, all this is doing is making the radio think the handset is still in the cradle.

The older handsets had a switch. Newer ones do not. Speaker switching is in the user menu (control head) for MCS2000.

Thanks for the reply
This is a newer style handset, has no magnetic reed.
The handset has the PTT and 4 other ( Nonusable ) buttons for other options that would have been available when you order the mic.`
Also,if i'm correct, the "off hook" would only be useful if you were using a tone.
I will have a look for the "handset audio" option in the CPS tonight.
Once again, thanks for all the help.

Ones that are still to this day being installed, have a switch. This is on the Astro Spectra series mind you.

The "Off Hook" setting can be used for a few things, not just for a PL tone. Off the top of my head, it can be used for PL/DPL Defeat (IE, when "off hook" the radio goes into CSQ as required by the FCC). The other functions would be to mute the internal speaker and the other to stop scanning when going "off hook". I'm sure there's others but I've never bothered to mess with it.

After going through the CPS from top to buttom i could not find any setting any where for the handset mic.
There is no switch on the handset. There is no "handset audio" option.

There is no option in CPS to enable the handset per se. Here's what you need to do. In CPS make sure you have a button programmed as menu, then add "HAND" as a menu item.

You would then press menu on the control head and scroll to "HANDSET" . Set this to on or yes. Now the speaker will follow the hook line.
