QCII does not depend on which controller you have. QCII actually depends on the radio's CORE version.
You will need a 6D core or higher to have QCII (The 5D core will not support it.), regardless of whether the radio is set up as a Saber I, II.2, II.8, or III.
The core version can be found under the radio information screen in the RSS if you have the radio read.
The Batlabs Saber page is a great source of information, you should check it out.
One other possibility- If your radio has the two RAT (Repeater Access Tone) buttons beneath the PTT switch, I don't beleive they have any usable functions in the 5D core, so if they make noise when you press them, it's a good bet you're dealing with a CORE that will support QCII.
However, I haven't seen a lot of radios that actually have the RAT buttons programmed, so while their functioning would certainly suggest an appropriate CORE, a lack of function would not necessarily rule it out.

You can always tell for sure by pressing and holding the monitor button (over the PTT) for more than two seconds. If the radio beeps at the two second point, when the squelch latches open, then the radio definitely has a 6D or 8D core in it.
5D radios never do that.

Gee Elroy, if you keep coming up with little golden bits of information like that, we're never going to let you get your head back through the door.

Astro_Saber, does this mean that this radio is an astro saber II? If the model # is the same and all. ??

Looks like somebody's not clear on Astro Saber vs. Saber model numbers. Here it is:
Saber model numbers are ALWAYS configured like this:
H43SAK7139CN
H33QXJ7139AN
H44SAN7139CN
and there are other models as well.
They always begin with H33, H43, H44, or H34
(not counting rare 66-88 MHz versions, which are H32 or H42) and then they have any of the following letter sets:
SAN
SAG
SAJ
SAK
QXN
(QXG does not exist.)
QXJ
QXK
ASTRO Saber model numbers are always configured like this:
H04KDH9PW7AN
H04KDC9PW5AN
HO4SDH9PW7AN
HO4UCH9PW7AN
and there are also other models.
But Astro Sabers ALWAYS begin with H04.
Refer to the model number decoding charts at batlabs (model specific info section) for more info on how to decipher them.

I assumed that the picture that was posted was a picture of an Astro Saber. I didn't know they made Fascinator for plain Sabers as well.

They sure did. It's been available since the late 80's in Sabers and Seneca Spectras.
