Probably Stupid XTS2500 Questions

Hello Everyone. I have a couple of probably stupid XTS2500 questions. I am replacing HT750's with XTS2500's.
1 - Are the batteries the same? Can I use them? Specifically HNN9008AR.
2 - Can I use the HT750 charger AAHTN3000D?
3 - Does anyone have any tips, hints, suggestions when programing the XTS2500? I am getting them programed from my dealer, but I want to add voice channel announce, QCII, etc.
4 - I would like the display to show an alpha tag of where the radio is assigned; Truck 1 Officer, Truck 1 Jump A. Is this possible? Not MDC, just a alpha label.
Thanks in advance. Henry

The batteries for the HT750 will work in it, but they aren't the correct batteries. You need to take them off the radio to charge them.

No and Yes. If the batteries have two sets of contacts at different heights they can be used on both radio's. Most do.

You have to charge the battery separately, the radio/batt together will not fit in the charger.

3 - Does anyone have any tips, hints, suggestions when programing the XTS2500? I am getting them programed from my dealer, but I want to add voice channel announce, QCII, etc.
Someone else can handle this one, its not much different than most radios each series has their own quirks.

There is a feature for this, but I don't remember what it is called, its a alpha label that shows up above or below the channel/zone name line on the display.

Unless something has changed, I believe you will need the Astro 25 Portable CPS. The version that just came out is R16.00.00 and will be what Motorola will sell you. Part number is RVN4181AL. Don't have a programming cable in front of me to provide the part number, but I am sure someone else will pop in and provide it.

As for the display, bear in mind you only can have a max of 12 characters per line. Like a line for the zone and a line for the channel.

You can easily add your name to the display. This is under RADIO WIDE options, the GENERAL tab. At the very bottom is RADIO ID ALIAS. Just type in the unit designator. It will show on the second line of the LCD display once programmed.
