Channel steering on a quantar

Hi can a quantar set up as a base station change rx an tx channels via tone remote function tones, if so how do I set up the TRC command table. in the manual it has the CHN 001 in the first Column and key in the second column but that will leave the rx on channel 1, I am looking to change the tx and rx channel by function tone.

That's pretty much it; I'd say first define your channels, then go into the TRC table and define which function tones select which channels & key them.
The one time I did this on the bench was just to add a 2nd channel to see if it worked; didn't look for any gotchas or anything.

Thanks kb4mdz
i can deal with the function tone to key 16 channels but my problem is when dekeying the deskset and LLGT is lost it will jump back to channel one

Hmmm, check for another option of 'channel revert' or something like that; & knowing M. like I do (which is not very well, but that's another subject

...) this choice of channel revert is likely not anywhere near the TRC function table. Maybe on or near the Channel Definition tab.

When you command a Quantar to change modes, it goes there and stays there until either you move it again, or it resets. I don't have the RSS and a codeplug in front of me, but basically you set up your modes, and then set up the trc table.

In the TRC tab, do you have the 2175 Hz Guard Tone field set to "More"? While the helpfile says it's not necessary for Quantar/Quantro, it's there 'to maintain compatibility yadda yadda'...
another thing, always important, are your tone levels; too hot & they could distort, clip & get confused for newer function tones? Too low, down in the noise, and the noise could get amplified & heard as new function tones.
Now I'm really curious!!

Just looked at mine and all it needs to do channel change is what you said you already have.
First colunm CHN 00X Second colunm KEY
I do have MORE in the first colunm for the 2175 tone
Take a look at your wildcard tables if you have any, someone else may have set something there to force it back to channel 1 on dekey.
I have a wildcard on channel 5 that XMIT INH and RX WL INHIBTS the staton, could drive someone nuts if they ever wanted to use channel 5, I use it to disable the station and it works for me.
