Hello,

I have in my garage several of the old Motorola Handi Com 70 portable radios.( the brick) I also have several gang chargers and single chargers.
The radios worked really well. I don't have any batteries for them and I kbow they are old. Used in the late 70/s early 80/s.
I was wondering if any one knew of a place I may be able to get some old batteries for these.
Also if anyone wants a few of these for their collection please let me know.
Any information is greatly appreciated..

Currently there is a thread about Handi-Com units running on this Board or on RR (can't recall which) which may interest you.

Except that hardly anybody knows what they are talking about on that other thread and it's discussing a different radio.

The MH70 is what these are, that has nothing to do with later radios also using the Handie-Com name.

These are the ones with the controls on the front and were a mid-tier radio dating from 1974-1978 more or less. Crystal control and not narrow band compliant. The battery is the back section of the radio, as I recall. At over $ 40 per channel it isn't worth tuning them up on some channel.

The low band ones, MH 10, were popular although I suspect yelling might carry farther than the signal on low band with the rubber antenna.

If you have low band be careful of the metal front bezel, that's part of the TX ground plan. I got bit by one years back when my metal framed glasses touched the front of the radio.
