Hello Batlabers-

I recently acquired a used HT1250 radio, and my CPS, version 06.11.10, will not read the radio or write to it. It is giving the "Can't Open Port" error message, yet when I plug my other radios in, it opens port fine. The 1250 Software version says it's 05.08.03. Anyone encounter this problem or able to help?

-Joe

Try cleaning the accessory connector contacts with a nonabrasive cleaner/contact enhancer. If you still have a problem with the same error message, replace the flex interconnect between the accessory connector and the PCB or swap the complete front housing(including flex) with one known to be good.

use a simple pencil eraser on the contacts. Have you actually programmed this radio before?

Cleaned contacts, still no luck. I haven't programmed this before, so I'm thinking possibly it was last programmed using 06.12.02 and I can't read it with 6.11? -Joe

No, that error indicates it can't talk to the radio at all. Have you tried swapping a complete front cover from a known good radio?

no you'd get a different error message if your cps was too old. Try what was stated earlier, swap out the front cover and make shure the flex is seated correctly
