Am I just unlucky or is this a known issue ? Waris Portable

Afternoon very knowledgable people from beautiful Melbourne, Australia
I have just been attempting to re-program a heap (over 100) GP328 VHF & UHF Radios using a ribless serial cable from China.
Anyway, I have struck a problem with half a dozen of the radios that will not even power up. We used these about 2 months ago and they have been sitting in storage ever since.
1 x UHF GP328 4 ch 450 - 512 mhz
3 x VHF GP328 4 ch 136 - 174 mhz
2 x VHF PTX700 16 ch 136 - 174 mhz
Done the obvious, cleaned battery terminals with isopropal alcohol, used fresh batteries etc etc
I am just unlucky that I have lost 6% of my fleet in 1 hit or is this a known problem that I can maybe salvage ?

You haven't explained if the problem was before you tried to program the radios, during the programming or after the programming.
The use of outside made cables is always a gamble.

That's mistake number one. Always use OEM cables, otherwise funky things might happen when trying to program a radio.
Also as Jim has stated, did this happen after, during, or before programming ?
Seems like this issue happened afterward and the radios have been sitting for a while and will just not power up. Are the batteries OEM Motorola, and are within a year or two old ? I'd start with the stupid simple things (such as proper batteries and cables) and work your way up from there.

Blow a fuse from something getting shorted on thge side connector with a faulty programming cable or not having the radio off when attaching the cable ?

Definately BEFORE programming as my process has been to put a fresh battery on the radio, power it up and then put the connector on.
As for Mistake # 1, understood it was what I had at the time. Usually I would be using an genuine OEM cable with a genuine RIB but they were not at my location at the time

That is two things I have just learnt then RadioSouth
I didn't know there is a fuse inside, secondly that you should have the radio off when attaching the cable.. In the thousands of radios I have programmed I don't think I have ever switched the radio on after connecting the cable... I guess my luck may have run out on this batch then
If that can do it, I guess that could be what has happened, at least it is a starting point
Is it a BIG job to replace the fuse for a service shop ?

Internal clock battery?
