I would like to hook up a external speaker on a XPR 4550.
It shows pins 9 and 10 for the external speaker. But i can't find how to disable the internal speaker.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: XPR 4550 external speaker
It's like the CDM radios, the internal speaker stays active.
If you want to disable the internal speaker, you would need to physically disconnect the speaker inside the control head.

Re: XPR 4550 external speaker
On my two radios, when the external speaker is active, the internal speaker is automagically disabled by the processor.
Re: XPR 4550 external speaker
That's interesting, when I hooked up my speaker tray to pin's 9&10 the internal speaker still works.

Re: XPR 4550 external speaker
I believe there is also a couple of pins on the rear connector to mute the speaker.
Re: XPR 4550 external speaker
When I first posted this question I received a few reply's suggesting there is no easy way to disconnect the internal speaker.
The radio will NOT mute the speaker when hooking up a external speaker automatically and when I look at the Rear Accessory Pin Configuration under the help menu in the CPS,it does not show any pins that would be designed to mute the internal speaker when using a external speaker.
As one member posted, you have to remove the head to unplug and disable the internal speaker.
I realize with radio that's full of (Bell & Whistles) such as the Trbo 4550 you would think Motorola would have a easy option to disable it,but there is not.

What firmware version are you using?
I'm going to verify this tomorrow at work on the bench, since I have to convert a bunch to remote mount.
