Quantars with Wireline to CommandPlus Console?

Post by W1HVN »

Correct me if I am incorrect, but a CommandPlus console should be able to interface with a Quantar if console has DC remote capability, correct?

Forgive me for asking prior to going into service manual, just wanted to run it by here first and see if there are any gotchyas in doing so.

Thx

Ideally you would want to use tone remote control between the two, not DC. I've never checked because I stay far away from DC, but I'm not certain the Quantar can even handle DC remote operation.

I've never done DC on a Quantar but looking at the service manual for the CLN 6955/6957D wireline boards, it will support 2 and 4 wire DC and tone. If you have a real late model with different wireline board like 8 wire if it was offered like the MTR2K, you need to verify with the correct manual for that board. Repeater Builder has scans of NLA or cancelled manuals for Quantar up on their site. Hopefully this isn't the gotcha like the RSS for MTR2000 having all of the steps to program DC up for control and the station not even supporting it.
