Hi All, Has anyone ever made an antenna adapter to go from the rubber duck mount to BNC? or is there any available on the market?.. I am aware of the Hirose adapter but would like to use a 10M telescoping antenna. Thank you for any help. Davie n-3-c-h-u at atlanticbb dot net

The entire antenna stud is 'hot' on the MT1000/HT600/ P200 series radios. So if the 10 meter telescoping antenna does not have any ground connection, then a stud to BNC female could work.

You need to be careful of the stress on the antenna connector caused by a non-standard antenna. It is very easy to break the solder connection between the antenna and the RF board in the Genesis radios. I have repaired several where someone tried to use an oversize antenna. The worst case was a ham that tried some kind of a 5/8 wave 2M antenna kluge that cracked the radio housing around the antenna connector .
I see the same problem with many scanners and radios with BNC antenna connectors when someone attaches either an oversize antenna or a BNC/UHF adapter to heavy coax.

As I recall, there is also an adapter that connects to the speaker mike connector that had a SO-239 attached to it that was intended for the test bench. I can see if I can locate in on the test bench if anyone is interested in the part numbers - it is a factory part.

Yes, there is a stud to BNC adapter that will fit the MT1000, because I have one. It isn't from Motorola; I found it on eBay. Can't remember exactly, but it came from a seller that sells all kinds of RF connectors and adapters.

That's not where mine came from, but I believe it is indeed referred to as a "MX to BNC female" adapter.
