Quick question..

Once a radio is loaded with a trunking system with a system key, can the radio be updated afterwords with other systems or conventional channels by software that doesn't have that system key?

To put it a different way -- I have an 800 MHz XTL2500 that is being brought to the State Police to be loaded with some of their talkgroups and system key. It's for our town's local field communications truck. If I wanted to add something later (either another local town's or county's system, or some conventional channels) could I do it from my own software (that doesn't have the State Police system key) or would it have to be brought back to the State Police for every update, even though those updates don't have anything to do with that particular programmed system?

Thanks is advance!!

If its a system key and not an advanced system key or they use a advanced system key that does not write protect the radio then yes you can still program other trunked systems (that you do have a key for) or conventional systems and radio wide stuff like buttons or menu items with you own cps. If its your departments radio I would insist that if they use a advanced system key that they not write protect the radio. There system would still be only able to be modified with there advanced key present, but if they write protect your radio you will always need an advanced key to program it.
