Hello :
Has anyone bypassed the audio jack in a GP300 VHF portable ?
I have a VHF GP300 portable model number P93YPC20C2AA that when recieving it loses the rx audio by simply turning the radio upside down .
Im thinking the audio jack contacts in the radio are so loose that its the cause .
So id like to bypass it and have the rx audio go straight to the 4 pin plug on the radios bd.
What component would need removed and where would the jumper wire need to be soldered to do this ?
Dont want to go through the trouble to remove and replace the audio jack and dont need the speaker mike .

IIRC, I put a soldered in jumper wire on the circuit board near the audio IC. I will look in my notes.

pay the $25.00 for a new speaker-mic jack .. 4 solder tabs to hold the shield and 6 solder points to remove the jack but you hafta remove the antenna pin and antenna port first to access it... If you don't want to do this, then jump the 2 pads on the 3.5mm side that is positioned at the back of the jack.. not the front pad... this is a typical problem and the TX side on the jack will also have the same problem too... very familiar with this

Thank you for the reply.
I have done a little studying in the GP300 manual and would like to confirm my idea on how to do it.
But would like your option too.
Im thinking that the jumper wire should be from the 8 pin audio chip U409 number 5 pin going to J5 internal speaker contact.
I believe U409 number 5 leg is closest to C413 component which would be U409s lower left furthest corner leg.
And that J5s speaker contact on the back side of the component bd would be the 1st from the right of C409 .
Id like to get confirmation that this would work so i dont let the magic white smoke out of U409.

I actualy got a little gutsy and already tested your idea of jumpering audio from the U409 chip to the j5 plug and it worked perfectly.
But i do apreciate your help.
Thanx for the idea as it was your mention of coming off the audio chip rather than the option jack that really made it so much easier that i cant imagine doing it any other way.
Leave it up to me to do it the hard way.
