d119, I don't believe that intermittent use is a problem. Ours are on 24/7 and show components being hot for a long time or getting hot. It is PRS-RB and I believe that is considered the internal MPS. What I have is pictured on page 23 (or page 26 of the actual PDF) of the pdf above (rear view).

Not for LTR... It looks like it does a horn honk and Transpond. Transpond is when that decoder will wait a couple of seconds then key up that radio as a responce so that you know that it recieved the hornhonk and alerted OK.

I don't think that running one amp with two exciters is going to be a good idea.... Your beter off with two very small repeaters like GR1225s or GR300s and 2 ant.s Those repeaters are about the size of car batterys and will do decent power.
