The ICOM portables and mobiles will do mixed mode, however you need to determine which will tx. I had to set ours up with 2 channels, 1 for analog and one for digital Mixed mode with same made talk-back, within a programmable time frame. Hasty example... Thanks for the info Alex. We'll get a hold of an alphanumeric display model and start playing around. Or get a JT1000, HT1550, or other radio that allows front panel programming! An excellent point. Those radios have FPP because a federal customer has a requirement for it. NXU's I hear work great.

Icom's system division released an analog audio IP linking device that uses TCP/IP Multi-Cast to one or many sites and looks to be pretty easy to configure. Probably at a fair price too. It was shown at IWCE and called the VEPG2.

Is it a smooth hum or more of a clicking? I've seen a radio's clock speed resonate at just the right frequency to come out the speaker. Kenwood's let you shift that clock speed slightly in case that ever happens but for a Moto to do it I think it needs professional service.

Using an Moto branded base station, yes and no. If you can get away with a Kenwood, Harris/MACom, Tait radio Zetron has some interface options that will get you IDs back to the console.

Using the M branded radio, Zetron can get the P25 IDs out of the DIU but only on their pure VoIP console.
