Re: apx 7000 new housing
IS and IP ratings are not the same. Tabs? On an HT1000? I used to sell the :o and we serviced it. Unless the new radios have something on them, there were no tabs.

That is untrue. IS ratings are the equivalent of buying insurance. It's a sticker on the radio. Properly swapping parts 1 for 1 does not nullify its IS rating. Doing it wrong can.

Re: Using a radio to open bay door at fire dept
I used a CDM radio years ago for a temporary solution. I wired it to the control buttons inside the garage. I used the one of the wires on the accy pins that was controlled by a DTMF code in the radio software. I programmed one code to energize the wire and open the door and another code to turn the...

I don't know for sure. I'm not impressed with iMPRES technology so far -- no pun intended.
I just want to get the firmware updated as it resolves some issues with over-discharge and such.

I've heard there might be some requirements for grants for this type of thing. You might want to check up on the grant requirements before you buy anything. I had an acquaintance tell me about a CERT radio grant issue related to this.

Anyone in St. Louis MO area with an iMPRES Field Programmer?
I have the firmware for 3.4, but I don't have an iPF. Anyone in the area got one? I need to upgrade my charger, but would like to also do all of our chargers at Eureka FD.
PM me if you can help me out.
Thanks!

we always used Testor model paint, then wiped with a rag with some lighter fluid -- or we occasionally used jif action.
a q-tip with some jif action was good for some tough areas where the paint was deep in the textured plastic.

Call an M dealer and get a quote. I'm sure it'll be list price for everything since it's a single radio and you aren't a big customer. That'll give you plenty of padding in your policy.

Professional engraving is the way to go. Check with the M Dealer/MSS in your area. The one here in STL does it, for a charge. They use computer engraving machine, then paint the engraved area in the color of your choice. It turns out very nice. Their entire rental fleet is engraved as well. Most of ...

Is it possible that the Emergency Decode features ignore PL/DPL, therefore rendering the 'PL required for data' setting mentioned earlier in this post? If this is true, then it would explain why you are decoding everyone else's emergencies. It seems like M would have the Emergency decode regardless ...

"External Mic Only" option
Hey gang. I've been playing with my new 5k and CPS 12. I was wondering if there was a similar option to the MTS2000s -- the "External Mic Only" options. This is the option that when a RSM is used, the PTT on the radio activates the Mic on the RSM rather than the radio's internal mic. Any t...

Uhh... by any chance did you check the times for short and long press???? It might not be a contact issue, it might be that short press is set for a long time or they are only set up for long press. If so, it would give the impression of not working.
Worth checking before taking anything apart.

Analog vs. P25 System Key differences... (Not ASK)
A few of us were discussing the multiple repeated failure and collapse of our City's Public Safety radio system as it is transitioned from Analog to P25 Trunking. Jim, Just a suggestion, but if your duplexor, powersupply, and RICK are all in good order, then maybe you guys can just replace the radios in the unit. In order to color engraving on M radios, most use model paint (Testors). you paint the engraved area and the area surrounding the letters. You give it a few minutes to set. then soak a rag rag with lighter fluid and wipe off the surface paint. this takes off the paint on the un-engraved areas withou...
