Hi Bill !
Although it is not intended for public release, I would gladly provide you related information and preprogrammed MCUs, since you are interested.
Your feedback is welcome. Just some patience to fix some bugs, and possibly develop a pcb.

Dealing with Mercedes-Benz taxicabs, there is no room for a radio, outside the glove box. So, I developed this minimal control head featuring basic functions. MCMicro family identification tool: WhatMCMicro.
It is a common problem to determine what model is an MCMicro standing on the shelf for long. You have to try various RSS etc. So I developed this little application that lets the radio speak for itself. It should work with all MCMicros, MCCompact, M110, R100, you name it. Maxtrac 300, blinking channel, no PTT.
A client's Maxtrac300 was brought for re-programming, working OK. After several attempts to program, I found that a transistor was blown in the SCI line. Re: MCS2000 - Model 1 LCD missing pixels
If my memory is still intact, MCS2000 is using zebra rubber conductors than flex pcb. In this case you need better sitting (if the rubber is clean).
Check whether the metal tags that support the LCD assy on the PCB provide enough pressure, or if the PCB is not properly seated in the head.

Well, I don't think that it's a matter of FCC, since every RSS programmable radio should be illegal as SB9600 is used for the programming of the radio. IMO it's a matter of mom M what features a specific radio should have. As I mentioned above, JEDIs like MC2100 & GM1200 can be literally turned ...

I can tell for sure that MC2100 & GM1200 and their portable counterparts can be almost totaly controlled via SB9600. By sending an SB9600 command, radio shows "CSQ" (carrier squelch?) just like when programming. Beyond that point, radio is totally paralyzed, awaiting your (SB9600) will...
