I am getting a deviation meter fail during self test, it appears to be reading deviation fairly accurately even with the failure.

I am trying to re program the filter options in my 120B
Using the commands given by Wowbanger I continue to get syntax errors, example.
cal:eeprom:ifbw0 "300"
I have tried many different ways but have failed, the syntax error is in the ifbw0 portion of the command.

Thanks for the info, I am looking on fleabay and see several "VHF" MTVA control units for pretty cheap, of course there are also many 2M "bricks" out there that should do the job. So I do not have a specific part number to list.

Well to answer my own question, I assumed it was a VHF because of the D in the part#, installed it in an R2 VHF Quantar and she made 125W no sweat, did not get rejected by the codeplug so it is obviously a R2 VHF PA, can add that number to the list...

Try connecting the control head directly to the drawer unit, then jump 20-22 on the acc (other D25 connector) this will power the radio up, this will eliminate any issues with your home-brew cable. I was always led to believe there was an ID chip on the Quantar backplane, I have looked two over pretty closely and cannot see anything accept a three legged transistor looking device marked U1 ???

If you have a Motorola PS that fan will run 24-7 If the radio is not booting correctly due to a problem with the SCM the PA fans can run continuously.
Go to the meter page and check on what the thermistor voltage is, normally around 3.5V fans will start to run around 2.0 to 2.3V

Boy AMP makes allot of connectors, I have a pretty good pile of Centracom "junk" might find one there.
Also I found what looks like the identical chassis connector AMP part# 104338-1so finding the mate should be easy.

Probably not the issue considering you changed the SCM but are you running an ATMEL codeplug chip? if not that can cause issues.

As it turns out the thermistor bias resistor was wrong from the factory on all of the PAs from this production run (of the 6 I have anyway) Well they may not have been wrong if the factory wanted to cook the crap out of the PAs before the fans came on. Anyone know how to adjust the local mic gain on the MTR2K? I am using a GMN6147B mic which is supposed to be correct, but the audio is too "hot" it is not over deviating the transmitter, it just has too much gain.

Keyed the 900MHz unit and the fans started after only 3-4 min, before I could even detect much temperature change on the front of the PA.
When I can get back to it I am going to try another SCM, but I have other fish to fry.
