I have all of the main frequencies programmed that I will need for now all I need to do now is hook it up to one of my antennas and try it out on the air. Re: Spectra Programming Issue

Do yourself a good move and before you do much, it would be worth trying to save a copy of the radio codeplug if you can. I have been reading so many threads tonight, I don't remember if you said you can't read the radio or not. A good idea would to always save the original codeplug to a floppy dri...

Re: Spectra Programming Issue

OK I think we got it figured out, with the help of another ham from a Facebook group. The control head isn't the correct model. The one on this radio is a HCN1033C. I am ordering the correct head off of EBay and I'll post back the results. Thanks to everyone for their help. I have used 1033 heads o...

Re: Spectra Programming Issue

Having programmed many of the Spectra radios over the years, my suggestion is to see if you can find a copy of the small program called "cacheoff.com" and try running it before you start the Spectra program. On many computers the "CACH" will cause all sorts of weird problems. I ...

Re: Spectra Programming Issue

Just go through to the control head programming and change the button functions then. Sounds like it may have been used on a X9000. Without having the codeplug it looks like I can't do much. I'll look for a codeplug on the codeplug supersite if the radio still won't read with a slower computer. You...

Re: Spectra Programming Issue

I have programmed many Spectra radios. I can tell you that I have not had much luck with using anything other than true DOS while programming them. I have had luck using Rufus to make a bootable DOS USB drive, but the software will only read a Spectra under this platform. BTW other RSS will run jus...

Re: To newly registered users: Welcome! Please read...

Is there any way to get moved to registered users? I have been waiting for about 9 hours to get a post approved from this morning. Like I said earlier I created my account in 2008 and have lurked but just recently started posting.

Thanks

Spectra Programming Issue

I've been trying to get my VHF hipower spectra to program but keep running into issues. When it is reading the codeplug it comes up with a error that says "Unrecognized data was found in the control head. If any buttons are missing consult manual." I setup a jump drive to be a windows 98 b...

Re: Just picked up my first Motorola

Make sure if the caps haven't been changed, that you get it done. A well known [and only] shortcoming of the Spectra/Astro Spectra line. Great radio otherwise. Will did both mine. GARY They have not been changed yet but I have been looking for the proper caps to replace them, so it will be done bef...

Re: Just picked up my first Motorola

On the bottom of the A9 head there is a slide style switch on the bottom, what is this for? I'll answer the easy question... That would be your standard "on/off" switch. Thanks for the answer. Now I feel dumb for not thinking of that, guess I should have hooked it up to my power supply an...

Can I get moved to registered members? Although I haven't posted much I have lurked around a bit since 2008 and my account was registered in 2008.

Thanks,
Tim

Just picked up my first Motorola

I was at a local hamfest today and picked up a VHF high power spectra. The model number is T83GXA7HA9AK. From what I have figured out so far is that it is a high range VHF, 110 watt with a A9 head. http://s29.postimg.org/plmencen7/20151101_154539_1.jpg I plan on buying a aftermarket rib box and then...
