I wish there was a way to adapt one of the Harris or Thales 30-108 whips to these but I think that may be a difficult thing to accomplish with the way the radio is designed.

The antenna comes with a cutting chart when you order one. FYI, it needs to be cut to different lengths for the same frequency depending on whether you will be holding the radio in your hand or using it on your belt with a speaker mic.

MTX8250’s are 800mhz. Do you have a low band HT1250 in an MTX8250 case?
A lot can be wrong with these things. I have not seen a fuse blow on one but I have seen them get stuck in bootstrap mode after being tampered with with the unmentionable software.

I am frequently in the area and I can confirm Lancaster is 100% encrypted for LE and even some fire departments. Dauphin has a lot of encryption as well but Dispatch is in the clear. Hershey Park is MotoTRBO trunking.

I think attaching one of those giant whip antennas to an HT1250 in itself (assuming you had an antenna with a native MX connector) would put an excessive amount of stress on the antenna jack. So I have a quantity of old crystals, I believe these are Motorola. Anyone have any idea what type of radios these would have gone in? Make sure also you have CAI Data Registration turned off on your conventional systems. Otherwise it may try to send data out and appears to be trying to affiliate.

I would like to have this too. Pyramid makes a harness for the Kenwood NX-5000 mobiles allowing you to connect 3 mobiles to one VRS. Shame they don’t have it for the XTL.

I suggest rolling your own since what everyone else has is likely customized for their needs. It is a pain in the :o but it can be done. Start by using www.fromtexttospeech.com to create MP3 files, then download and use Goldwave (free) to convert to the proper WAV format that the CPS will recognize....
