Mobile Radio Interfering with Stereo Head Unit.

I have a CDM1550 VHF ~50 Watt mobile installed in a 99 ML320. Fused directly to the battery, remoted and antenna is mag mounted towards the rear of the vehicle. I noticed recently that whenever I key up the mike, I'll get some constructive interference which results in a "awful" noise coming out ...

Do Lightbar's cut down on your mileage per gallon

Due to the nature of a lightbar, even a minilight bar, do you feel that the mounting of one reduces the gas mileage on your vehicle?

RF Interference - Damaging?

Just like how a pair of computer speakers react when you key a portable next to it, one of my car speakers reacts the same when by the mic on my CDM 1550 is keyed.

The radio is professionally installed, everything grounded appropriately. When the radio is keyed, you hear a "thud" in the speaker ...

1999 Mercedes Benz ML320, Antenna mag mounted just above the rear tailgate. Power runs directly to the battery, fused. Ground at chasis point, no ignition control. All channels are programmed on High Power, 45 watts.

During the first few days after the install, everything seemed to be working ...

CDM1550 Car Stereo Interference

I just finished installing my CDM1550 in my SUV, rear mounted and the head unit was remoted to the center console. Everything seemed to be working well, little to no engine/alternator noise, etc. Then all of a sudden, I noticed that when I keyed up on the mic, the front passenger speaker (car stereo ...

MERCEDES BENZ ML320 & HEADLIGHT FLASHER

Here's a new one. Mercedes Benz ML320 and Headlight Flashers. Can't figure out if that "light truck" is positive side or ground side switching. Called the tech's at MB, two of them agreed on positive side, but they said I couldn't quote them on it.

Anyone got a clue? Anyone have any experience ...

MOUNTING TD28 TRAFFIC STICK FROM 911EP

Driving a SUV and trying to mount an arrowstick with no success. Suction cup mount to the rear glass in an SUV. Problem is that the freezing weather causes the suction cups to lose elasticity; they release suction after an hour or so. I'm looking for a more "temporary" solution, I'd rather not drill ...

Cont'd

Also, I forgot to ask...I'd probably have to take out the 10Amp fuses in a normal cigar plug and replace it with a 15Amp fuse?

Let me know if this is just a bad idea...

**CDM1550 CIGAR PLUG WIRING THEORY**

Unfortunately, I'm stuck over the next few months of having to move between a few personal vehicles. I use my CDM1550 quite frequently, and am trying to think of some way to easily move it from one vehicle to the next. Motorola says that while transmitting on high power, the radio draws 13.5 amps ...

The Same...

Meaning what? I can get a second hand SVII that's crystalled for a different frequency, pull those out and throw mine in? So I should also be able to take another dept's chips and throw them in ANY pager as well?

If you would clear things up.

Thanks.

Minitor II "Do-hickie"

I currently have a minitor II pager on VHF 154.1000. The tones that set it off are A-B 2378 and 734. Opening the pager I see those two chips imbedded on the side. If I were to get a Minitor II SV pager, could I just swap the chips and everything works? Or is there more to it than that?

Alphanumeric Paging System FOR EMS

I'm looking to build a paging system to dispatch EMS on a college campus. The coverage area spans about 10 miles from the dispatch center, which is on lower campus. The campus is on a hill, so it is acceptable to place the transmitter towards the top if a RF link is going to be used. Anyone have any ...

Make sure that all your channels are listed in the same scan bank. Check your channel personalities and make sure than under the scan tab that they all say SCAN-1, not "disabled"

See if that helps.

CDM1550 LS Trunking PTT ID

Just programmed a CDM1550 LS+ Radio in a responder vehicle and am having trouble getting the PTT ID to pop up on the screen each time the radio receives/transmits. In the CPS, the "display decode ID" was checked, and everything seems normal. The radio works and everything, but it's PTT ID does not ...

RE: Unable to Read HT1250

I'll give it a shot. The computer is a 266Mhz with 96MB RAM, loaded with NOTHING except the CPS software (I dedicated the machine to Programming)

I'll try reinstalling the software. What's with the version of the codeplug that can be found if you look it up on radio information. The latest says 1 ...

RE: Unable to Read HT1250

I'm using a laptop to program the radio. Both radio and laptop are at full battery capacity, with the laptop plugged into AC also. Using CPS R4**-AA and RIBless cable RKN4075A, genuine motorola parts.

Nothing seems wrong with the radio now, but how could i know if the codeplug is corrupted? The ...

Unable to Read HT1250

I have a HT1250 sitting on my desk that I am trying to program. I have programmed it twice before, in the past 24 hours. The radio itself is working fine, it powers up, receieves and transmits.

However, i can't read from it, nor can I write a new codeplug to it. When I try, it says that it can't ...

HT1250 Radio Programming Scan

Programmed an HT1250 VHF full keypad with about 96 channels, and I can't get it to read/write anymore. It usually will say that it can't read it, and/or that it is unable to get the codeplug from the device in order to verify whether it can write to the radio or not. However, once in a while, it ...
